Two-Generation Home Plans

CONCEPT

What is IMHOME’s “Yui no Ie”?

Designed to adapt to the ever-changing lifestyles of modern living

Okinawa has one of the highest land price growth rates in all of Japan.
In recent years, family living arrangements have diversified rapidly — not only traditional two-generation households or living with the eldest son’s family, but also with married daughters, unmarried or late-marrying relatives, single mothers and fathers, and elderly parents living together.

To meet the needs of this new era of Okinawan living, IMHOME offers a range of two-generation home plans with a clear fixed-price system, backed by over 100 completed projects. Each home is built with durable, high-value reinforced concrete construction (RC), designed to adapt to future family changes.
IMHOME also provides support with rental-income hybrid housing, asset management, inheritance planning, shared construction costs between parents and children, and optimal loan arrangements.

POINT

Four Housing Types

  • Yui no Ie Standard

An “Independent Type” that promotes satisfaction for both households and encourages positive interaction.

  • Yui no Ie Fortus

A “Rental-Combined Type” designed to address financial concerns and adapt to changes in family structure over time.

  • 結の家プラス

    Yui no Ie Plus

A “2.5-Generation Home” that accommodates diverse lifestyles and multi-family living.

  • Yui no Ie Share

A “Partially Shared Type” that enhances cooperation and efficiency through shared spaces and resources.

  • What Is a Two-Generation Home?

While there is no official definition, a Two-Generation home generally refers to a residence designed for co-living between parents and their adult children.
In 1975, a major housing manufacturer that first introduced the concept defined such homes as “houses equipped with two separate kitchens, one for each household.”

The rise of Two-Generation housing was largely influenced by the nuclear family trend that began in the 1970s and the rapid increase in land prices during Japan’s economic bubble in the late 1980s.
Today, new forms of family living continue to emerge — from cohabitation for emotional reassurance and multi-generational “co-education” with grandchildren, to homes shared with married daughters, as well as 2.5-generation living arrangements that reflect later marriages, non-marriage trends, and increasing divorce rates.

  • Connected and Supportive —
    Two-Generation Living in Okinawa

Today, two-generation living is being re-evaluated across Okinawa.
With some of the highest land price increases in Japan, a rise in dual-income households and children on waiting lists for daycare, as well as the growing need for elder care in an aging society, Okinawan lifestyles are rapidly diversifying.

At IMHOME, we cherish the spirit of Okinawa’s traditional family values while proposing modern two-generation homes designed for the new era.
